haircut was not a happy, but my husband loves me well

nope, not happy at all. the stylist pressured/shamed me into getting highlights. for $120. i came home furious at myself. and i did not like the haircut. at all. the whole thing somehow managed to raise an ugly host of body image and self esteem issues. why can't i ever do anything right? why after spending over $200 do i still not look pretty? i was mad. i was sad.

in the middle of my little tantrum, my husband came home. he told me i am beautiful, and when i refused to believe him, he held me and told me all the reasons he loves me. and said we should go get some guinness. he knows me well.

so eventually (the weepies lasted a while) we went to whole foods and bought guinness and groceries. came home and made pad thai, and watched three sheets (our current favorite show) on hulu. then it was time for leftover chocolate mousse, and scotch.

i am now merely annoyed at my hair. but have remembered there are far more important things in life. (how embarrassing to have temporarily forgotten!)
